The Forbidden City is the best preserved imperial palace in China and the largest ancient palatial structure in the world.

The splendid architecture of the Forbidden City represents the essence and culmination of traditional Chinese architectural accomplishment.              For almost five centuries, it served as the home of the Emperor and his household, as well as the ceremonial and political centre of Chinese government.

The forbidden City is one of
China's main tourist attractions, an ancient emperor's palace in the heart of Beijing visited by up to 80,000 tourists a day.

UNESCO listed Forbidden City as a world heritage site in 1987 and it has been listed as the largest collections of preserved ancient wooden strucctures in the world.
